PhD. Bernard Harbaš (University of Zenica/Bosnia Herzegovina): "Concept of Consumption in Postmodern Philosophy"
Zeit: Do 28.03. 2019, 17:00 Uhr
Ort: HS.06.03, Universitätsplatz 6, 8010 Graz

Abstract: Postmodernism is theoretical orientation which emerged? in 1950s, whose theoretical goal was to break with grand narratives of traditional philosophy and its grandiose efforts to solve all the problems in the world. Classical theoreticians such as Th. Veblen and W. Sombart considered consumption as standard determination of someone’s status, class position and wealth. With appearance of cultural studies, new tendencies in cultural anthropology and after all postmodern philosophy, consumption got wider culturological significance and started to be perceived through perspectives of responsibility, language, pleasure, identity, and work
