Basic Concept

The doctoral program in philosophy serves to deepen the theoretical and philosophical approaches and research issues that emerge in the course of an academic education. For this reason, the program is aimed at scientists of philosophy and of other disciplines who are conducting research concerned with philosophical themes and questions. The aim of the program is to support dissertations in the area of philosophy and dissertations where philosophy constitutes an essential component. Participants of the doctoral program will be supported through additional, interdisciplinary supervising of their work in progress, and by giving them the opportunity to gain further skills. The program also pursues interdisciplinarity in terms of the established research core areas "Heterogeneity and Cohesion", "Europe’s Cultural History and its Interpretation" and "Learning - Education - Knowledge" of the Karl- Franzens- University, both on the level of its members and on the level of its PhD students.
